Though it cannot be independently confirmed that there were one thousand people in attendance at the inauguration ceremony of the Federation of Liberian Mandingo Associations in the USA, FELMAUSA, but many see the program as been very successful indeed.

Milwaukee: Having been seen as Jews of West Africa because of their economic power, an educator is challenging Mandingoes to consider that as the past and look forward to what the future holds for them in Liberia.

Muslims Want Holy Koran in Public Schools

Thousands of Muslims over the weekend gathered at various mosques and open fields to offer special prayers to climax this year's Holy Month of Ramadan after undergoing 30 days of fasting and praying during the Holy Month in keeping with the Islamic faith.

Sheikh Abubakar M. Sumanworo, Grand Mufti of Liberian Muslims in the country, told reporters after special prayers were offered in commemoration of this year's Eid al-Fitr celebration, that the Muslim community through the various Imams resolved to put forward to national government that the Koran should be taught in all public schools across the country. Muslim Cleric Says Christians Enjoy More Rights

Divisiveness in Liberian society has been increasing from time immemorial, especially with the onset and consummation of the just concluded civil war. The divisiveness finds expression in families, tribal groups, communities, social classes, factional, religious, fraternal or sorority affiliations.

One chord that has been noted to be of bitter disparity in Liberian society is the religious flank, where Islamic critics maintain that the government of Liberia has been buttering the bread for Christians in all spheres of opportunities available in the society. True or otherwise, it is yet to be seen what the government's reaction will be to a claim made by none other than a moderate and Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Sheik Kafumba Konneh. Mr. Chairman elect, distinguished representatives from the Liberian Embassy,
Representatives from VVN and COA in Leusden,
RepresentativeS from the Liberian Association in Holland (LAH),
Representatives from other sister organisations and individual personalities here present,
Fellow respected members and officials of our noble organisation, BENGOMA,
I greet you all in good spirit and good health.

Ladies and gentlemen, the peaceful transfer of authority is rare in history yet very common in our noble community. With a simple oath today, we will once again affirm old traditions and make ways for new beginnings.

This is the last time I will be speaking to you as your Chairman. We have been together for the past two years and soon it will be time for me to go. It has been a great honour for me and my great executive team to serve this humble community. We are grateful to have been given the golden opportunity to serve you wonderful people.

The leadership of the Federation of Liberian Mandingo Associations in the United States of American � FELMAUSA - will like to present its complements and heartfelt appreciation to the brothers and sisters in Minnesota for their gallant efforts in coming together to take steps in the direction of resolving their disagreements.

We are grateful to the host and facilitators for bringing the parties together over the weekend in Minnesota. It is and will always be the goal of FELMAUSA - to encourage peace, harmony and reconciliation for the good of the larger Mandingo Community.

We are hopeful that the Minnesota experience will be replicated amongst all of our people for a unified, strong and vibrant community that is able to advocate for our people as well as provide the needed services.

We will take comfort in the word of Mahatma Gandhi, and in the spirit of clarity, attempt to provide some insight into the behind-the-scene maneuverings that gave birth to FELMAUSA. At the same time, we will attempt to provide a rationale for a consultative conference of all of our people.

I will first provide retrospective assessments on the initiatives that produced FELMAUSA as we know today. I need not stress the heart wrenching attempts by many of our brothers and sisters to provide a central forum where the aspiration of our people would have been protected and championed.

Bengoma is pleased to inform you that the chairman of Bengoma, Mr. Amadu Kromah and his lovely wife Ms. Ma-mailon Kanneh have been blessed with a lovely baby girl, Mamawa Kromah, who came in to this wonderful world on Thursday the 9th of August 2007 in Ede , in The Netherlands.

Members and officials of Bengoma whole heartily welcome little Mamawa in to our family and we sincerely congratulate the Kromah family for this wonderful addition to their humble family. We pray for God's blessing, protection, guidance and long life for this newly born member of Bengoma.
